Sajith Premadasa
Sajith Premadasa is the leader of the opposition and the party leader of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) party. He is the son of the late President Ranasinghe Premadasa, who served as President of Sri Lanka from 1989 to 1993. Following in his father’s footsteps, Sajith Premadasa entered Parliament in 2000, representing the Hambantota District as a member of the United National Party (UNP). During his tenure, he has held several key positions, including Minister of Housing and Construction. In 2019, Sajith Premadasa was nominated as the presidential candidate of the SJB for the 2019 election. He will be contesting again as the SJB’s candidate in the 2024 presidential election.
